Spring Break at the Lake

As the pages of the calendar turn, Lake Martin awakens from its winter slumber, ready to embrace the joys of spring. This tranquil time, more peaceful than the bustling summer months, is the perfect setting for Spring Break at the Lake, our family retreats.  This unique gathering offers families facing the challenges of rare diseases a chance to find rest in a supportive community, all at no cost.

Our Lake Martin campus offers a place where parents can unwind and rejuvenate, knowing their children are in a safe and supportive environment. From crafting sessions, fishing expeditions, and pickleball games to unexpected visits from our local fire department, the air is filled with the joy of shared experiences and excitement. This is a place where families can take a step back from their daily challenges and find solace in the understanding and support of others.

One testimony to this rejuvenating experience comes from the mother of seven-year-old Cayden Peterson, a brave young girl battling a rare form of cancer. Her mother couldn’t speak more highly of Cayden and her three-year-old brother’s enriching experience attending Spring Break at the Lake. She says Children’s Harbor is a place where Cayden “doesn’t have a care in the world.” She also says, “you meet the most wonderful people” and “it just makes you feel like you’re at home.”
