Children’s Harbor is proud to announce the addition of four distinguished community leaders, Brent Burns, Sandy Killion, Andy Meehan, and Henry Ray to its Board of Directors. Our four newest members combine decades of experience with steadfast support of Children’s Harbor’s mission to serve families of seriously ill children through refuge, respite, and resources.
M. Brent Burns is an accomplished executive leader with deep experience guiding technology and software companies. He currently serves as Board Chairman for Alt Legal, an IP management software provider, and Quire, Inc., a technical report management software company. Although “semi-retired,” Brent remains active in private equity, where he is valued for his strategic insight, operational discipline, and board-level perspective. His career includes executive leadership roles as CEO of Connecticut-based Investment Metrics and COO of Atlanta-based PowerPlan, Inc., where he built a reputation for disciplined execution, financial insight, and effective team leadership. In addition to his corporate work, Brent has a strong commitment to community by serving on nonprofit boards including Mission Increase Atlanta, as chairman of ACE, and the Lake Martin Bama Club. Brent and his wife, Linda, have been married for 36 years and enjoy time with their two children and five grandchildren, splitting their time between Lake Martin and New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Sandra Reever Killion has been the Principal and CEO of Vulcan Industrial Contractors for 20 years. Founded in 2003, Vulcan Industrial is one of the leading industrial contractors in the Southeast; it is owned and managed by women and is certified by The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. In addition to her role at Vulcan Industrial, Killion also serves as Chairman and CEO of Shook & Fletcher Supply Co., Inc., which is also certified by The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. Killion’s love of her home Birmingham is illustrated by her involvement in the community. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for ENCORE, Finance Committee for Canterbury United Methodist Church, Junior League of Birmingham Beeson Committee,and the Alzheimer’s Disease/Memory Disorders Advisory Council at UAB.
Andy Meehan is president of Sweetwater Partners, Inc., where he manages family capital across public markets, private equity, and real estate after a three-decade career scaling one of the Southeast’s top wealth management firms. A graduate of Vanderbilt University with a degree in economics, Andy spent more than 37 years as a nationally recognized financial advisor, guiding families and entrepreneurs through the complexities of wealth planning, management, and transfer. Along the way, he trained and mentored hundreds of financial professionals while helping clients navigate life’s most important decisions. He and his wife, Catherine, live in Birmingham, Alabama, where they raised three sons. Andy serves on the boards of Ronald McDonald House Alabama, the Emergency Assistance Foundation, the Society of International Business Fellows, and the Alabama Council on Economic Education.
Henry Barnes Ray, Jr. is a Seasoned Real Estate executive with over 50 years of experience leading, expanding, and integrating successful real estate organizations across Alabama. Skilled in business development, corporate accusations, mergers, and executive operations, Henry brings strong governance experience, deep community involvement, and a long-standing commitment to professional excellence in the Real Estate industry. He is the Co-Founder and President of Ray & Poynor. After co-founding the firm and guiding its strategic growth, Henry sold his ownership stake but remains active as a licensed real estate agent. He serves as a Deacon and Elder at Independent Presbyterian Church and is a board member of the Birmingham Rotary Club. He also serves on the UAB School of Nursing Board of Visitors, Parkinson Association of Alabama Board, and the Kirkwood by the River Board. He is a member of Willow Point Country Club, Five Star Preserve, Mountain Brook Club, and the Country Club of Birmingham. Henry has been married to his wife, Carolyn for 56 years, and is the father of two sons and grandfather to four grandchildren.

Children’s Harbor’s Board of Directors provides strategic leadership and guidance for the organization’s two Alabama campuses. Together, the Board helps ensure that families of seriously ill children have access to the care and community they need.
