Children's Harbor is a magical place, not only for the children and their families who find love and support here, but for those whose efforts help make the wonder possible.

Many of those you see around the campus are volunteers who find joy in seeing a smile on the face of a child who is battling serious illness or a parent who has had few opportunities for a real respite.

Some of the volunteers are able to spare only a few hours a week; others are here almost every day. Some of them are young people just embarking on a life that includes serving others. Some are adults who carve time from their work week to help make a better world. Others are retirees who long ago learned the truth of Winston Churchill's observation that we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

There is virtually no activity, no special event that is not made better or more efficient by the volunteers' effort. The fact that they are willing to give of themselves enables Children's Harbor to do so much more for children and their families.

It has been said that volunteers are not paid – not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless. We know ours are.
