Sunday, October 30 and Monday October 31 are the dates for The 12th Annual Children's Harbor/Camp ASCCA Golf Event that is being sponsored by the Alexander City Rotary club. This is one of the most successful golf events in the State. Over the 11 year history of the event, Children's Harbor, who serves families with seriously ill children and Camp ASCCA who serves children and adults with mental and physical challenges, have together received over $1,000,000.

Because of the generous in-kind contributions of the host courses (Willow Point and Farm-Links), the expenses for this event are less than 10% which means that the charities receive most of the proceeds. In 2004 Children's Harbor and Camp ASCCA received over $60,000 each. With good participation we just might exceed this amount this year. Proceeds from the event helps Children's Harbor provide counseling, educational, and social work, and support services to hundreds of children with long-term, serious illnesses and their families each year through our Family Center at Children's Hospital. It also helps us provide camping services to thousands of children at our Mariners' Adventure Camp on our Lake Martin Campus. Proceeds from the tournament have also been used for capital projects such as the Rotary Adventure Course, Welcome Center , and paving interior roads.  Part of the 2002 event proceeds were used to help build Henderson House, a much-needed camp building, on our Lake Martin Campus. Camp ASCCA uses proceeds to provide camperships for children and adults who are in need of financial assistance to attend Camp ASCCA and for various capital additions.
