Children's Harbor Provides Free Resources to Families Who Have Seriously Ill Children - The Word "Fee" or "Payment" Is Not In Our Vocabulary

Our primary effort is centered around the Children’s Harbor Family Center at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. The Family Center is a collaborative effort with Children’s Hospital of Alabama and provides family counseling and support services to children who have long-term serious illnesses as well as to their families. Children’s Harbor also provides camping and adventure services on our Lake Martin campus to these children and their families as well as other children and families with special needs. When not being used by illness groups our Lake Martin facilities can be rented by churches, businesses and individuals. Contributions from individuals, businesses, churches, clubs, foundations and others are used to provide services to the children and their families.

Three Reasons to Give

Most families cannot afford to pay for non-medical related services.
Most families need an opportunity to mix and network with other families who understand.
Children with long-term-stay illnesses and their families need a place to get away and relax.

Davenport-Dixon Golf Event

On Monday, August 30, 2010, the Vestavia Country Club hosted the inaugural Davenport-Dixon Invitational Golf Event to benefit Children's Harbor.

Committee members Ken Findley, Richard Cashio, Randy McClendon, John and Carolyn Hartman, Coker Barton and Chase Wise pooled their energy, resources and friends to produce a wonderful event.

The stars of this event were Gene Davenport and David Dixon who have faithfully served Children's Harbor and other health-related charitable organizations. The winners are the children with serious illnesses and their families that Children's Harbor serves.
